Temple, Texas- April 15, 2015- The United Way of Central Texas (UWCT) will surprise local businesses with the 2014 Community Impact Awards tomorrow, April 16 and Friday, April 17. UWCT staff, board and agency directors will ride on the Ralph Wilson Youth Club ambassador bus to present the awards to the winners.
“The 2014 campaign went very well,” said United Way of Central Texas Chief Executive Officer James Thurston. “The companies and businesses being recognized are those who went above and beyond in their workplace campaign and who are making a lasting impact on our community.”
Thousands of local companies and individuals participated in the 2014 workplace campaign and it is considered an honor to be a chosen community impact award recipient.
“It is exciting to celebrate and honor these companies and their employees for their passion and commitment to serving the needs of this community through their workplace campaigns,” said UWCT Vice President of Resource Development, Stephanie O’Banion. “Their dedication is inspiring and truly makes a difference in the lives of others.”

The United Way of Central Texas is also hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on Thursday, May 7. The event will take place at Ralph Wilson Youth Club, 1400 East Ave. B in Temple, from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 pm. Attendees will enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs grilled by Ralph Wilson Youth Club Executive Director, Charlie Kimmey. Food has been sponsored by Hilton Garden Inn, Temple and music will be provided by EMANON Productions.
