Welcome to United Way of Central Texas
United Way of Central Texas
1952-2006
Welcome to the United Way of Central Texas! United Way of Central Texas, one of over 1,300 local United Way branches throughout the United States, funds over 26 health and human service agencies in Central Texas. These agencies, while funded by other sources, depend on United Way’s support each year, so that they might continue to provide specialized programs and services to meet the greatest needs of people in our community.
United Way of Central Texas began in 1952 when a group of visionaries concluded that the only way to solve community problems and meet community needs, was to inspire a collaborative effort with local agencies and corporate and community leaders. These efforts would ensure the local agencies’ funding, enabling each to adequately address the issues within the Central Texas community. That is why United Way’s community building activities have been so important for the past half century. Today, United Way of Central Texas continues to identify needs, develop strategies, and mobilize resources to make lasting changes in people’s lives and in the community.
We encourage you to browse our website, taking time to learn about the great passion that fuels United Way’s staff and volunteers. This same passion provides meaningful opportunities for over 150,000 people in Central Texas each year, and with an increased numbers of donors each year, United Way can begin to touch even more lives in our community. Take this opportunity to become a part of the vision United Way of Central Texas has for our community. You can make a difference.
