United Way of Central Texas Surprising Local Businesses and Hosting Volunteer Appreciation Picnic
Temple, Texas - May 06, 2014 - The United Way of Central Texas (UWCT) will be surprising local businesses with the 2013 corporate campaign awards tomorrow, May 7. UWCT staff, board and agency directors will be riding on the Ralph Wilson Youth Club ambassador bus to present the awards to the winners.
Thousands of local companies and individuals participated in the 2013 workplace campaign and it is considered an honor to be a chosen award recipient.
“So many businesses within our community worked very hard on the 2013 campaign,” said United Way of Central Texas Executive Director Ann Thompson. “We are thankful for all of them, but there were those who went above and beyond their duties. These are the people and businesses that will be receiving the awards.
The United Way of Central Texas is also hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on Thursday, May 8. The event will take place at Ralph Wilson Youth Club, 1400 East Ave. B in Temple, from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 pm. Attendees will enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs grilled by Ralph Wilson Youth Club Executive Director, Charlie Kimmey. Food has been sponsored by Hilton Garden Inn, Temple and music will be provided by EMANON Productions.
“We are so grateful for all of our volunteers,” Thompson said. “This is going be a fun and exciting new event to thank our volunteers and supporters for all their hard work.”
