(Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)
During the Tax Season, (January – April 2011) we will be preparing tax returns free of charge for low-income families all across Central Texas. A 16-hour training course is provided for anyone interested in learning to be a Tax Preparer at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. Volunteers are also needed to serve as Greeters at the tax site. No formal training or skills are needed to be a greeter. We also need Interpreters onsite to help translate to non-English speaking clients.
- Tax Returns are prepared by IRS Certified VITA/TCE Volunteer Preparers
- Federal returns are filed electronically
- Eligibility: income of $49,000 or less
- No charge and you keep 100% of your refund.
- Refunds usually received within 2 weeks either by direct deposit or by mail.
Volunteers are trained to prepare:
- W2, 1099 INT, 1099 INT, 1099 MISC
- Interest and Dividends
- Itemized Deductions
- Education Credits
- Sole Proprietorship
- Unemployment
- Social Security Benefits
- Disability Income
Volunteers cannot prepare:
- Married filing separately
- Military
- Rental Property/Real Estate
- Farmer/Minister
- Self Employed Health Insurance
- Self Employed Stocks and Bonds
