What does it mean to LIVE UNITED?

LIVE UNITED is a constant reminder that when we as individuals think outside ourselves, we have the power to facilitate change. When we think of others’ lives as linked to our own, our compassion grows. When we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. We build up the strength of our neighborhoods. We bolster the health of our communities. And we change the lives of those who walk by us every day.  To LIVE UNITED, you can GIVE, you can ADVOCATE, and you can VOLUNTEER.  As a community, in doing these things, we will inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.

Our History:

UWCT was established in 1952 by a group a visionaries who concluded that the only way to solve community problems and meet community needs, was to inspire a collaborative effort with local agencies and corporate and community leaders.  Today, United Way of Central Texas is still run by a volunteer board and continues to identify needs, develop strategies, and mobilize resources to be used for positive change. 

We are a locally incorporated, non-profit organization that is the single largest non-governmental funder of health and human services in our community.

United Way campaign dollars support 28 health and human service agencies and programs that are addressing community problems on a daily basis.

We partner with these agencies and participate in collaborative efforts in an attempt to tackle the root causes of issues in Central Texas  in order to improve lives and positively impact the community.
